Meets every Thursday morning except on u3a General Meeting days.
Most walks are around 4 miles, usually on roads or forest paths and include a stop for tea/coffee and scones. Waterproof clothing and boots or strong shoes are recommended.
Group Leaders need to risk assess the venues and activity, and provide this information for members to do their personal risk assessment.
The final decision on participation in an activity rests with the individual members as only they know their circumstances.
There are two risk assessment forms, adapted from the Third Age Trust forms, on which (1) the Group Leader will provide a risk assessment of the venue and (2) the member will do their personal risk assessment. The latter will remain with the member, it does not have to be seen by the Group Leader (Third Age Trust advice). Group Leaders will risk assess each venue and copy the relevant parts of this assessment to the second form (personal risk assessment). Members will then be asked to fill in their own personal risk assessment form and then fill in the usual Disclaimer Form (modified) with contact details and sign to confirm that they have done their personal assessment and are happy to participate. This should be given to the Group leader.
